DALGARNO GARDENS CARPENTRY & JOINERY
At Dalgarno Gardens there was a lot of in house joinery done on site. Some of it was made from new materials, but others from recycled materials. This kept costs down, but more importantly, kept themes going throughout the house, retaining memories and heritage from the client's past.
First off we have radiator cases. These were built from scratch, the doors infilled with metal gauze. Metal frames were welded together to fit in the back of the doors to support the gauze, which in turn, was welded to the frames.
Next up is a built in cupboard in a spare bedroom. The carcass and fluting were made from new, but the doors were old relics from Dalgarno before we stripped it back to its bare bones. The doors were trimmed to size to give a perfect fit.
Another example of new was the airing cupboard in the master bathroom, for towels and sheets. A very simple carcass was made from moisture resistant MDF. To complete the internals, an up to date towel rail was fitted to allow the heat to pass through the very simple slatted timber shelves, keeping everything warm and dry.
To keep the memories of yesteryear this little cupboard was purpose built for the kitchen. The doors used for this project came from an old bank of cupboards from the customer's previous house.
Nearly all the work in this house was a bespoke customer request including the miniature picket fence at the front of the house. This was made from a hardwood timber, ideal for outdoor use.
Finally, for the most important members of the family! Keeping the dogs in mind, the size had be right but also, fit in just the right spot in the kitchen. The carcass was a very simple timber construction, cladded with the remaining T&G from the basement fit out. To finish it off the top was painted with a one off eye matched mix to replicate the kitchen work tops and topped with toughened glass for durability and easy cleaning. The rest of the dog box was painted in with the wall colour. I think those are two happy customers!
